Associate News Editor at The Daily Texan
August 2007 – December 2007 | Austin, Texas
As an assignment editor, working alongside two other assignment editors, we brainstormed story ideas and edited raw copy. Student copy allowed for plenty of editing practice. My lead-writing ability improved drastically, as I had to rewrite many leads.

My business desk internship was sponsored by the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund. After a week-long Dow Jones training workshop in New York, I joined the Post and covered retail, food and small business. I also wrote about travel and alternative energy.

Reporter (Internship) at Laredo Morning Times
June 2006 – August 2006 | Laredo, Texas
My first newspaper internship was on the border, in Laredo, Texas. As a general assignment reporter, I wrote dailies, but my biggest responsibility was writing 23 personal features for the Times' annual United Way booklet. The collection spotlighted various Laredo nonprofits by telling the stories of people who have been helped by the nonprofits.
